This series is a departure for me. I wanted to show joy and color, while at the same time remaining true to my melancholy sensibilities. It's the first time I have experimented with out-of-focus photographs and found that something strange and special happens to an image when it is blurred. It becomes something unreal and precious, like something you might not have actually seen flash before your eyes when first waking up from a late afternoon nap. I hope this series works for you. While you might not be used to this style, let it sit with you for a little while, or come back to it after a few days.
